From “Enforcer” to “Violator”: Officers Disregard Basic Traffic Rules

Mga higala! In response to our latest post regarding an RTA Officer violating traffic rules by not wearing a helmet while driving a motorcycle, some of our followers have sent us pictures of other personnel who are violating even the most basic regulations that they’re supposed to uphold.

As you can see in this photo, a driver is riding his motorcycle without a side-mirror violating the Land Transportation Office’s ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. AHS-2008-015, Section VIII, that states:

“Motorcycles or scooters shall be equipped with required accessories such as headlight, tail light, signal light, brake light, side mirror and horn.”

In addition to the offense, the fact that he and his back rider are RTA officers is a disappointing blow to their agency and to the motorists who are always doing their best to stick by the traffic rules.

Furthermore, another photo (shown above) was sent to us, showing a law enforcer driving his motorcycle with an “open-pipe muffler” which violates the Muffler Act of 2016 or Anti Noise Pollution Law signed by President Rodrigo Duterte, that aims to curve, if not totally ban, the sale and use of mufflers that are deemed too “noisy”.

This may just be the “tip of the iceberg”. Maybe more of these violations are out there, which may also be more severe than the examples we’ve shown. We hope not. We know you do too.

Let’s just do our best to follow the rules and regulations, no matter where we are mga higala. Let’s avoid the things which can affect ourselves and others.  And pray that issues such as this will not be ignored by the government.
