03 Aug Oro Photographic Society Opens Online Higalaay Photo Contest: Join & Win Prizes Weekly!
Mga higala! The Higalaay Festival 2020 will still be celebrated this year amidst the pandemic, as announced by Mayor Oscar Moreno.
With this, the Oro Photographic Society, Inc. has announced a photography contest in relation to the city’s annual fiesta.
There will be different themes for each week of August of which involves Kagay-anon food, people, CDO landmarks, and the Higalaay Festival.
Below are the mechanics of the Photography Contest:
1. All camera brands are allowed. Participants can use a DSLR camera, mirror-less camera, or smartphone.
2. Follow, like, and share Oro Photographic Society official Facebook page www.facebook.com/ops.cdo
3. In submitting entries, personal Facebook accounts must be used. Participants may submit up to 3 entries, with one entry that can be declared as a winning photo.
4. Every week, there are 4 different themes. See below with the specific dates.
- Week 1 (August 2-7) Theme: FOOD
- Week 2 (August 9-14) Theme: PORTRAIT
- Week 3 (August 16-21) Theme: LANDSCAPE
- Week 4 (August 23-28) Theme: FIESTA
Submitted entries will be posted on the OPS Facebook page. Likes and shares on the posts are part of the criteria for judging.
5. 3 winners will be announced weekly, which is every Saturday. They will be notified through Facebook Messenger.
- 1st Prize: P3,000
- 2nd Prize: P2,000
- 3rd Prize: P1,000
6. Entries must not contain any identifying marks or watermarks. Also, photos that have won or submitted to any other photography contest before are not allowed.
7. Action cameras, film cameras, drones, and stitched panoramas are not allowed. While photo manipulation/merging/stacking is restricted, post-processing of images is allowed but limited to color enhancements and cropping.
8. Submitted photo/s will remain the property of the participant. Upon joining the photo contest, the participant gives the organizing committee the right to use the submitted photo in any form without seeking to pay compensation or further permission. The said rights are not limited to billboards, newspapers, print ads, social media exposure, and reproduction of photos for exhibition and promotional purposes. Still, proper credit will be given to the participant.
9. The Board of Judges’ decision is final and irrevocable.
10. For winning participants who fail to claim their prizes within 3 months will be forfeited.
Here is the breakdown of the criteria for judging:
- Content and relevance to the theme – 40%
- Artistic Value, composition/technical aspect, excellence, and quality – 40%
- Likes and shares – 20%
