1,000+ Riders Apprehended For Not Installing Shield & Other Motorcycle Backriding Violations

Mga higala! A total of 1,350 motorcycle riders were apprehended all over the Philippines last Saturday, August 1, 2020, for back-riding without a protective shield and for violating other health safety protocols!

Strict back-riding rules against COVID-19 were officially implemented on the said day.

According to the Manila Bulletin, out of the 1,350 riders, 704 were apprehended for not installing shields while back-riding with their partners.

Meanwhile, 580 additional riders were detained for “failure to comply with the installation of barriers” while riding with someone other than their spouses or live-in partners.

Lastly, 66 riders were apprehended even though they installed motorcycle shields, for back-riding with individuals who are not their partners.

ICYDK, the penalties for these violations range from P1,000 to P10,000 depending on the number of the same offense committed.
