05 Jul P15.6 Million Worth of Marijuana Uprooted in Agusan del Sur
On Saturday, July 2, police officers, soldiers, and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) raided a marijuana plantation in Sitio Pilang, Barangay Kasapa 1, Loreto town, Agusan del Sur.
The uprooted and hauled off marijuana plants, according to the experts, worth as much as P15 Million.
On the operation, it was Kasapa 1 barangay chairman Allan Manguinimba who accompanied the authorities in uprooting 5,000 marijuana plants weighing around 125 kilograms. The owner nor anyone involved in the farm were not seen during the operation.
Most of the uprooted plants were burned and some were turned over to Loreto Mayor Ligaya Otaza who chairs the town’s Anti-Drug Council.
This was the third raid in the province since the police bolstered their efforts on June to fight illegal drug trade as mandated by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Previously, on June 20, P4.5 million worth of marijuana at Kilometer 32, Barangay Valentina, Lapaz town in Agusan del Sur province has been secured. The second raid was in Barangay Waloe, Loreto, Agusan del Sur, uprooting P6.6 million worth of marijuana.
