26 Oct Passenger Witnesses Another Getting Stabbed By Holduppers Inside Patag Jeepney
Mga higala! A netizen, Nicole Areola, has shared about a traumatic holdup incident that she recently experienced while riding a jeepney bound for Brgy. Patag in Cagayan de Oro City!
According to Nicole, the said incident happened on the night of October 23, 2020.
She rode a jeepney with a Patag route at around 7:40 pm. Along Pabayo Street, she noticed a suspicious male sitting in front of her and started getting wary. This prompted her to hide her smartphone and clutch her bag.
Upon reaching the Ysalina Bridge near the St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral, the individual facing her together with 2 others declared a hold-up and threatened the passengers with knives.
The said men then demanded the bags and belongings of the passengers. Nicole tried to resist one of the suspects at first but eventually gave up her bag. As if this was not enough, her necklace was then snatched by the suspect before getting off the jeepney and escaping under the mentioned bridge.
Nicole survived the encounter unharmed.
However, her male co-passenger wasn’t as lucky. He resisted the hold uppers and ended up getting stabbed multiple times in the chest. He was left bleeding and begged the jeepney driver to take him to the nearest hospital.
Nicole witnessed the whole thing and was unable to react. While still in shock, she hailed a taxi and went to the nearest police station to file a report.
Moreover, a female passenger managed to jump off the jeepney right after the suspects’ hold-up declaration and bumped her head on the pavement.
(The victims are now in the hospital and are currently recovering.)
