25 Apr PH Army Reactivates Tank Battalion
Mga higala! The Philippine Army has reactivated its 1st Tank Battalion!
ICYDK, this is 61 years after it was deactivated in 1961 due to the high cost of tank maintenance and the lack of funds.
The reactivation ceremony was held at the Armor Division’s Headquarters in Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac last April 21, 2022.
This tank battalion will be playing a major role in the defense of the country’s land domain, and will be composed of the following assets:
- 18 Sabrah ASCOD light tanks
- 10 Pandur 8×8 wheeled light tanks
- a command vehicle and recovery vehicle
- and a tank gunnery simulator
