06 Jul PH Gov’t to implement National ID within President Duterte’s term

The government is planning to implement a single National ID that will help ease the delivery of social services.
In an article from ABS-CBN News Website, Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said that the eyed National ID will become the successor of all government identification cards with the exemption of passport and driver’s license. The National ID will also have an embedded biometric data and will be issued at the birth of the holder which can be renewed at the age of 18.
Diokno added that the ID will also serve as a social welfare card and will also be used for identifying those who will be eligible for transportation discounts as well as in medicine and health care services.
Furthermore, the executive order on the National ID that will be issued to all Filipino citizens is now being drafted after the House of Representatives approved the bill which aims for the unification of all government issued IDs into a single ID.
