Vice President Leni Robredo announced in her weekly radio morning show Biserbisyong Leni her visit to Marawi City where an ongoing fight between the terrorist rebel group Maute and the military forces is being monitored.

Robredo said that they will be coordinating with their command center at Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City prior to entering Marawi City to check on one of the LGU-run offices of her Angat Buhay Program.

Angat Buhay is a program of the Office of the Vice President which links support from private sectors to LGUs to add more classrooms, fishing boats, and feeding programs, among others.

Robredo also said that the command center at Xavier University is the location where her team and some students from the University will be repacking the goods to be given out to those who are in need in Marawi City. She also added that a priority visit will be made to evacuation centers since the evacuees are the ones who are in urgent need of help.

In addition, the Vice President shared that her office has already helped at least 5,000 affected families through a P2.7M budget allocation from its social services fund.

To meet the growing needs of affected families, Robredo called on to those who have the heart to give to send their donations and support the cause in the form of cash or relief goods.
