03 Jul Philippine army prepares last wave of offense against terrorist groups in Marawi City
After more than a month of exchanging gun fires and ammunition with the members of IS sympathizers extremist groups, the Philippine Military is now preparing for its last wave of offense which would hopefully end the crisis in Marawi City.
In an article from sbs.com.au, Philippine Army General Eduardo Año said that members of the rebel groups in Marawi are distributed only at a small portion of the city where civilians are also being held as hostages.
However, he also noted that the difficulty of penetrating through the terrorist-held area will make it laborious for the state troops.
He also said that the buildings and houses occupying the area will also make it hard for the military to defeat the offense of the terrorists within a short timeframe.
Despite that, he takes pride in this recent effort as it will not only guarantee the safety of civilians but also, it will decrease the destruction of properties around the area.
As of this writing, there are about 10 snipers from the side of the rebels who were killed recently resulting to 317 total of rebels killed, 88 Philippine soldiers, and 44 civilians.
