21 Nov Pinay Boxers Will Be Competing 2017 Women’s Youth World Championships
In an article posted by The Manila Times, Cagayan de Oro Pride and a promising boxer- Gena Casin together with her colleague Florence May Oliveros will be competing in 2017 Women’s Youth World Championships at Nabin Chandra Indoor Stadium, Sarusajai Sports Complex, Guwahati, India.
Casin will fight for the Pinoy pride in the women’s flyweight category (45-48 kgs.) against Karina Tuvakova while Oliveros will compete in women’s lightweight (60kgs) with Tatiana Konstantinova. Both our delegates and their Russian opponents have proven their skills in their previous fights, therefore, this is expected to be an amazing match-up.
The Philippine delegation coaches are Roel Velasco, a bronze medalist in Barcelona Olympics and Mitchell Martinez, a former Asian Champion.
Further, the victors of this tournament will serve as the qualified competitors for the Third Youth Olympic Games next year in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
