19 Oct Pink Zumba Party For Breast Cancer Awareness Kicked Off In CdeO
In an article posted by Sunstar.com, the first ever Pink Zumba Party in Cagayan de Oro City pushed through despite the heavy rain as part of the October Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebration at the Rodelsa Circle (Paseo del Rio) despite the last Sunday, October 15.
The area was filled with individuals from different walks of life wearing shirts of various shades of pink to show their support for cancer patients who are currently undergoing treatment or as a symbol that they are reminiscing the memories of their dead loved ones who once battled with cancer. Some of the participants came from Ozamis and Iligan who flew to Cagayan de Oro so that they can attend the event.
The event was also organized to enthuse advocacy of encouragement, compassion, and awareness among all participants led by Honey Mangubat, a breast cancer survivor who fought her illness alone while she was working in other countries.
According to Mangubat, the main goal and objective of the event is also to show to normal people that breast cancer survivors are also happy a people and that there is more to life after battling cancer. Through dancing, they aim to show to other people that they did not lost to cancer.
Zumba instructors who are certified by the Zumba Instructor Network attended the event such as Winston Fuentes, C Robert Lopez, Jonathan Ruelan, Boyet Maandig, and Ronnie Olaer.
