Plastic Dividers Inside PUVs No Longer Required

Mga higala! The Department of Transportation (DOTr) recently announced in a press conference that the use of plastic barriers inside public utility vehicles (PUVs) are no longer required!

According to DOTr Assistant Secretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor, “drivers and operators can already remove them because there are no medical findings, based on our studies, that they can prevent the spread of COVID-19. Instead, the virus could stick to them.”

This will be in effect together with the increase in the seating capacity limit of PUVs to 70%.

However, DOTr wants to remind the public that basic health safety standards, like the wearing of face masks and face shields, should still be strictly observed.
