29 Nov PNP Chief Bato dismissed 174 ‘drug positive’ PNP personnel
Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa sanctioned the dismissal of 174 drug positive PNP personnel said he will block any reinstatement attempts by sacked personnel.
“Once I sign it, then these 174 should say goodbye to the service. And don’t attempt to have you reinstated because I will block it,” Dela Rosa said in a press conference Monday, November 28.
Dela Rosa put the entire 170,000 PNP personnel on a mandatory drug test when he assumed office last July 1 to separate those who are connected to drug activities.
Among the 174 sacked personnel 167 are uniformed policemen.
“It is already for my signature, for my approval. I will sign it in order to lessen our headache,” said Dela Rosa.
The list was submitted by the Internal Affairs Services and went through an intense process which includes giving those concerned a chance to defend themselves.
A high-rank officer also tested positive for drugs, a chief inspector – equivalent to a military major.
