Police Officer of Anti-Drug Task Force Killed in Tacurong City

On August 13, 2016, Saturday night, in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat, the deputy chief of police’s anti-drug task force was shot and killed by two men.

Senior Insp. Orlando Ramos Guira aged 46, was the deputy chief of Cotabato police’s Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force. He died before reaching the hospital in Tacurong said Senior Supt. Rannie Hachuela, Tacurong City police director.

Reports said that Guira was supposed to fetch his wife, Jean, a doctor from Isulan town. But she was not feeling well that time and decided to commute through a tricycle going home to Tacurong. Guira was on his motorcycle and following the tricycle along the Isulan-Tacurong national highway.

Past 8:30 p.m., when Guira reached Barangay ECJ Montilla, two men on a separate motorcycle attacked him as stated by Hachuela. He added that Jean heard bursts of gunfire from the tricycle she was riding. Jean and the tricycle driver then took Guira to a nearby hospital hoping that the doctors could still save his life but unfortunately the doctors failed.

According to Hachuela, suspects immediately depart to Isulan town after attacking Guira with cal. 45 hand gun.

Guira once led antidrug operations in Cotabato City this past week said Senior Supt. Raul Supiter, Sultan Kudarat provincial police director. Supiter said that Guira was a dedicated police officer and added, “There is a possibility it could be a reprisal. We are, however, not discounting other possible angles yet.”

Cotabato City lost one of its most effective and efficient police officers said Vice Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi sorrows Guira’s death. She added that with Guira’s leadership, there were several arrests of drug user and pushers in the city.

Sayadi stated, “We will not stop until the suspects are identified and are put to justice. The city government does not, and will never, tolerate any forms of criminality, especially against people who are helping us eradicate all these wrong doings in our city.”
