On Monday, Cagayan de Oro Electric Power and Light Company Inc. (Cepalco) Vice President Ralph Paguio said that the power generation rate in the coming months will be reduced as rainy season is helping the stabilization of the power supply from hydro power sources being owned by the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (Psalm).

From the generation cost of P4.73/kilowatt hour (kWh) in April, it lowered down to P4.48/kWh in May with a difference of 25 centavos. Paguio hopes for the continued lowering for the generation cost in the next few months.

As siad by Paguio, “We expect the rate to go down. We hope magtuloy-tuloy kay the more components sa generation ang hydro sources the lesser the bill kay hydro is relatively lower price.”

However, while there is the generation reduction cost, consumers will still be collected with an amount of eight centavos for the Feed-in tariff (FIT) or the renewable energy payments.

“Naa pud ta 8 centavos nga rate nga ginakolekta sa FIT para sa renewables nga ga-generate og power para sa tanan sa Pilipinas,” said Paguio.

“Everybody pays for that tanan utilities ma Coop ka man or private,” Paguio added saying that FIT payments have already been approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission.
