24-year-old Joana Rose Salles, a pregnant woman and a resident of Barangay Bulua, was detained at Police Station 1-Divisoria after allegedly robbing the handbag of 19-year-old Cindy Pacana of Barangay Kauswagan while inside St. Augustine’s Cathedral last February 22, 2017, Wednesday.

According to a report from Sun.Star, Pacana explained that Salles took her handbag by force and threatened her life by saying that if she ever resist giving her handbag, she’ll get killed by Salles and a male companion carrying a gun who was just outside the cathedral waiting. Scared Pacana let go of her handbag containing money amounting P560 with Salles hurriedly leaving the Cathedral.

Pacana added that she sought for help upon exiting the church, asking random people in the area whether they’ve seen the suspect who was in her red shirt carrying a brown and white handbag. A witness then reported to Pacana about a woman fitting her description of the robber who headed towards the parking lot. With the help of the security personnel of St. Augustine Cathedral, Pacana was able to get her handbag back.
