06 Jan President Duterte Stops Increase Of PhilHealth Contributions
Mga higala! President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the deferment of PhilHealth’s planned increase in member contributions!
ICYDK, the premium rate of PhilHealth members will increase to 3.5% of their monthly basic salary this 2021, from 3% in 2020. This is in accordance with the Universal Health Care Act which mandates the 0.5% increase of contributions each year until it reaches the 5% limit in 2025.
In response to the deferment order, PhilHealth has issued a statement saying they stand by stand by the President and agreed to collect “the 3% instead of the 3.5% contributions rate; and the P60,000 instead of the P70,000 ceiling in 2020.”
However, this arrangement will only be good until Congress is able to pass a new law allowing the official deferment of the scheduled premium adjustment. If no new law is passed, PhilHealth will continue with the 3.5% members contribution increase.
