18 Jul President Duterte Signs Law Giving 20% Fare Discount To Students, Even On Weekends & Holidays

Mga higala! President Duterte has signed into law Republic Act 11314 or the Student Fare Discount Act, a measure that will give students a year-long 20% fare discount on all public transportation, even on weekends and holidays.
This law covers all forms of public transportation including jeep, bus, UV Express van, taxi, transport network vehicle service, aircraft, and ships as well as railways (MRT, LRT, and PNR).
To avail, students are required to present a valid school ID or a validated enrollment form.
Drivers or operators who will refuse to comply with this Student Fare Discount Act will receive penalties such as suspension of driver’s license up to three months and fines from P5,000 up to P150,000.
