07 Aug President Duterte orders investigation of Phividec tax anomaly
In an article from Manilatimes.com, former Cagayan de Oro representative, and now Philippine Veterans Investment Development Corp. (Phividec) board member Benjo Benaldo said that President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the probe of the P2-Billion Phividec tax scam.
Benaldo said that the President released the order through Secretary Bong Co in hopes to recover the tax which the national government is due to collect.
He added that the President was glad that the anomaly was immediately brought up and no non-essential investigation has been made. With that, some Phividec officials might be invited to give out statements that could shed light on the investigation.
Benaldo exposed the tax anomaly last July in which multi-billion companies operating in the Phividec ecozone were involved including Steag Power, Mindanao International Container Terminal (MICT), and the Philippine Sinter Corp. among others.
