13 Jun President Duterte promises rehabilitation to Marawi victims
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said on Sunday, June 11, that the government will be extending help to families and individuals displaced by the ongoing armed conflict in Marawi City.
In an article from MindaNews, the President made the statement as a response to queries on the means in which the government can help out to the victims of the attacks as well as who will be taking charge of it. It resulted to Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr. being announced as the primary person to lead the cause and to prepare a rehab plan for Marawi City.
Through a text message, Evasco told MindaNews that he has not yet received any orders saying that he is to take charge of a government rehabilitation program for the victims of the attacks and that he has to wait for orders over the matter.
Duterte was quoted to have been saying that the rehabilitation program will be focused on giving more help to the poor families and whatever is left will be given to the richer ones.
