20 Jun President Duterte Signs Law Requiring All Terminals To Have Free Internet, Sanitary Facilities, & More
Mga higala! President Rodrigo Duterte has signed into law a measure (Republic Act No. 11311) that requires all transportation terminals, stations, stops, rest areas, and roll-on/roll-off (RORO) terminals to have free internet service, clean sanitary facilities, adequate ventilation, and lactation stations for the comfort of passengers.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), together with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), has been ordered to make sure that the free internet will be available, while owners or operators are required to provide the following:
- separate male and female restrooms
- restrooms for persons with disabilities;
- safe and adequate water supply;
- flush system;
- toilet seat with cover;
- toilet paper, mirror, soap, hand dryers, and door lock;
- waste bin; and
- exclusive space for diaper-changing
DOTr will then conduct random inspections in terminals nationwide, to ensure that all the law’s requirements have been complied and are maintained.
