The price paid for various documents such as Birth Certificates, Death Certificates, Certificate of No Marriage and other gov’t documents will increase due to the implementation of Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion or TRAIN.

Even the documentary tax for other bank papers like cheques will also be included.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the previous P15 documentary stamp will swell to P30 due to the revenue regulation of BIR which is effective tomorrow, February 2.

Note: A documentary stamp is a tax on documents, instruments, loan agreements and papers evidencing the acceptance, assignment, sale or transfer of an obligation, right or property incident thereto. Thus the payments for all gov’t documents that Filipino’s need will inflate.

Furthermore, documents that cost P125 will increase to P155, while the CENOMAR increases from P195 to P210. And cheques that cost P1.50 per page will now be bought for P3.

In accordance with this announcement, the government has defended this move saying that this is a way compensate for the lost funds because of the decrease in income taxes.
