Last Sunday, December 17, the Cagayan de Oro City Police Station 1 conducted a Family Fun Run with the goal to fund its ongoing Learning on Wheels Project.

The said Fun Run started and ended at Plaza Divisoria with its 1 km, 2 km, and 3 km categories.

The registration fees collected from the participants is said to finance the police force’s educational programs.

Station Commander Police Station 1 Sr. Insp. Glenn Abalde stated that they are currently implementing the Learning on Wheels project to teach out-of-school youth and street children especially with the age bracket of 6-10 years old. Their program focuses the need for a child to read, write and conduct proper manners.

He also added that hopefully because of this initiative, CdeO’s out-of-school youth and street children will be able to avoid the dangers in our streets and the influence of any illegal activities.

As of now, they can only cater to the children around the precinct and their area of responsibility. But with the assistance of other government agencies, they should be able to help various barangays in the city.
