13 Mar Rabies kills 2 in CDO; Gov’t urge dogs be vaccinated
According to the Provincial Veterinary Office, at least two people have died of rabies this year and urge the public to have their pets, dogs or cats, vaccinated immediately.
In a report from Bombo Radyo Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental Veterinary Officer Dr. Jess Recososa said there have been numerous reports of these accidents happening around the city since these pets have numerous in the streets.
The city veterinary office headed by Dr. Perla Asis called on the community to be a part of a free pet vaccination this March 25, 2017 at Barangay Tablon, Cagayan de Oro.
According to the Department of Health, around 300 to 400 Filipinos died of rabies with dog bites accounting for 84 percent of human rabies cases.
Rabies Awareness Month is observed every March by virtue of Executive Order No. 84 signed on March 13, 1999 by then President Joseph Estrada.
