Rep. Rodriguez Urges DOTr & LTO To Suspend Emission Testing Requirement Until December 2020

Mga higala! Rep. Rufus Rodriguez of Cagayan de Oro City is now urging the Department of Transportation (DoTr) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to suspend the requirement of emission testing for vehicle registration until December 31, 2020!

In his appeal (Resolution No. 1007), Rodriguez cited that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected and disrupted the lives of all Filipinos, including the over 11 million who own motor vehicles, and government operations were halted.

However, with the easing of quarantines and travel restrictions, a lot of vehicle owners “are now having their vehicles registered, resulting in very long lines and unusual delays in the process of registration, especially in emission testing centers”.

This results in violations of social distancing protocols in testing centers and LTO offices, which could possibly lead to an increase of COVID-19 cases.

Rodriguez also emphasized that some LTO offices in the country were forced to lock down because some workers got infected with the coronavirus disease.

What do you think of this higala? Do you agree?
