Mga higala! Rhemilyn Relado of Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, is now the youngest branch director in the history of Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) as per her appointment at PhilRice Head Office in Los Baños, Laguna.
And, she definitely deserved the position! Check out Rhemilyn’s outstanding academic background:
Below is the narrative posted by Philippine Rice Research Institute:
Ms. Relado is the youngest branch director of PhilRice. Prior to her transfer to PhilRice Los Banos, she led the Socioeconomics Division at PhilRice Central Experiment Station for 8 years. Under her leadership, the SED was hailed as Best Division.
While supervising her staff, Ms. Rhemilyn Relado has been involved in research that looked into the competitiveness of the Philippine Rice Industry relative to other Asian countries; socioeconomic and technological profiles of rice-based farm households in 42 major rice-producing provinces of the country; and information sources of rice farmers.
Being a researcher and development worker, she conceptualized a project called Lakbay Binhi, a mobile seed center that “responds to the challenge of having the right amount of high-quality seeds delivered to farmers” in the most remote areas. The project was awarded as the Most Relevant Re-entry project by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) in 2016.
She now works on strengthening and enhancing partnerships with Los Banos-based international, national, and local agencies.
