RTA Employs 35 Traffic Enforcers to Clear Up Traffic Congestion in CDO

To clear up the traffic congestion in Cagayan de Oro City, the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) office employs 35 new traffic enforcers.

The new enforcers are currently attending a three-week seminar about traffic laws, traffic signs and hand signals, and so forth, said Task Force Hapsay Dalan chairman, Jose Edgardo Uy.

To test the newly hired officers, they will take written and practical examinations on the road, Uy said.

The City Council hired new employees assigned on Road and Traffic Management as one of its regular committees intended to solve the congested vehicular traffic in the city.

The committee is obliged to study, investigate and report on proposed ordinances or resolutions and all other subjects concerning to road safety and traffic management plans and programs according to its House Rules, mention in Resolution No. 12390-2016.

The city government is considering on constructing establishments that are designed as a parking area in the city, City Councilor Romeo Calizo said. He added that the Home Security Department was also proposed to support traffic enforcers addressing the traffic issue.

Uy stated that RTA hires 200 regular workers while other are on a job-order basis.

The public should also take part and be responsible when on the road to avoid road congestion, motorists and pedestrians should follow traffic rules.

Traffic jam in this city is getting worse during rush hours usually after 5 p.m. when most people wants to go home early.
