11 Oct RTA Designates Barangay Tanods To Ban Motorelas & Motorsikads On CDO Highways

Mga higala! Following the recent order of DILG, the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) will now designate barangay tanods in regulating motorelas and motorsikads from traveling along national highways.

RTA chief of operations Lito Deloso said that the local government unit (LGU) of Cagayan de Oro will strictly enforce the ban on said vehicles in order to minimize possible accidents.

And, because their traffic enforcers are not enough to implement it for the whole city, they are required to ask for the help of barangay tanods. Deloso also added that this is appropriate since motorsikads register their paying passenger-loaded units in the barangay level.

Moreover, several barangay chairmen have expressed that they agree with the ban, but, they’re also hoping that the DILG would not apply this to all main routes, because it will deprive some residents of their only livelihood.
