27 Apr CDO RTA to conduct traffic dry runs for SM Downtown Premier Opening
In preparation on the soon to open SM Downtown Premier along with the CM Recto Avenue, the Cagayan de Oro City Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) will be conducting a traffic dry-run. It is expected that when the mall opens it could worsen the already heavy traffic situation in the area reason why the RTA will be implementing a new traffic scheme.
According to an article written on Sunstar Cagayan de Oro, included in the new traffic scheme is the strict implementation of the no-parking policy along Osmeña Street, CM Recto and its adjacent streets.
Vehicles coming in and out of the mall are also encourage to make no left turns to lessen the vehicles on the roads. Barrier is added in the middle of the highway to prevent motorists from turning left especially those coming from Lapasan.
In addition, the limited number of motorists are only allowed to pass through Osmeña but would allow Agora Liners along the road.
There will also be no parking zone on the whole Osmeña Stretch as well with the parts of Gaabucayan, Agudo and Captain Vicente Roa streets.
All these traffic rules are needed to be implemented and followed to lighten the heavy traffic the motorists and commuters are experiencing now all over the city.
As to date, there are still no dates on when this dry run with the new traffic scheme should be done and implemented. The RTA in coordination with the mall management is still conducting meetings to finalize everything.
