04 Nov RTA Conducted Surprise Sidewalk Clearing Operations, Seizes Motorcycles
On November 3, Thursday, the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) conducted their surprise sidewalk clearing operations at Tiano-Borja Streets, Cagayan de Oro. The authorities have confiscated and seized at least one motorcycle for illegal parking.
The RTA will conduct the clearing operations regularly to lessen the congested traffic in the city, said Lawyer Jose Edgardo Uy, Task Force “Hapsay Dalan” head.
A fine of P1,500 was charged to various owners and drivers of motorcycles and private vehicles for violating traffic rules.
Uy warned that they will not tolerate this kind of practice as violators frequently park their vehicles illegally on the sidewalks.
We just hope that we, including the public, should work together hand-in-hand.”
RTA, earlier employed 35 new traffic enforcers to monitor and manage vehicular traffic in the city which is now worsening particularly on rush hours.
