22 Feb Rep. Rufus Rodriguez Pushes Construction of 240km Trans-Mindanao Superhighway
TopGear Philippines- Cagayan de Oro City Representative Rufus Rodriguez is now urging the government for the construction of a 240km Trans-Mindanao Superhighway.
This will help in boosting Mindanao’s economy by making trade and travel easier for all Mindanaons.
Rodriguez stated that Mindanao is still the land of promise. And to foster the country’s progress, we cannot remain in a state of dreams.
In order to pursue this goal, Rodriguez, together with his brother Rep. Maximo Rodriguez (Abante Mindanao) filed House Bill 3929, which pushes for the construction of the superhighway that would connect provincial capitals in the Caraga Region and remote Northern Mindanao areas to the Laguindingan International Airport.
If implemented, the Trans-Mindanao Superhighway will pass through Prosperidad in Agusan del Sur, Malaybalay and Talakag, Bukidnon, which will connect toBarangay Dansolihon highway and the Barangay Dansolihon-Barangay San Simon-Laguindingan Airport highway.
TopGear also added in their article that Rep. Rufus Rodriguez pointed out that Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur are isolated from Western Mindanao. This is due to the absence of an East-to-West highway. The said major road artery would allow the people from the Caraga Region access to the Laguindingan Airport, with the travel time of four hours from Tandag to the airport.
“As a result, people from Caraga would no longer have to travel to Cebu or Manila to have access to airports for their travels within and outside the country.”
