16 Oct Secretary Lorenzana Affirms Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute’s Death

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana confirmed that one of the leaders and founders of the ISIS-linked Maute terrorist group, Omar Maute, and Abu-Sayyaf leader, Isnilon Hapilon were killed in today’s military operations intended to hunt down the two terrorist leaders.
In an article by GMA News Online, Lorenzana said that the recovered bodies will still undergo DNA testing since it is needed for the monetary rewards that are around P5 million for Maute and $5 million and P10 million for Hapilon to be given by the Philippine government and from another foreign country.
Aside from the carrying out the said operation, government troops successfully freed 17 hostages of the terrorists.
Lorenzana also shared that the operation was based on the claims given by one of the former hostages of the terrorists who provided the information of the Hapilon’s and Mauite’s presence in a building where she and other hostages were hidden and held and where the hunt-down operation was conducted today.
