20 Sep Shabu Worth P1M Confiscated from a Grade School Teacher at Agora
On September 18, Sunday evening at Agora, Barangay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City, a female grade school teacher from Surigao City was apprehended in a joint entrapment operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Northern Mindanao and units of Police Station 3.
The authorities arrested the teacher identified as Jonet Argente in front of the police station in Agora.
Four huge plastic bags which contained 300 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated worth of P1 million were supposed to be transported by Argente to her four associates yet they were arrested earlier by PDEA-Northern Mindanao operatives, Police Station 3 chief, Chief Inspector Ariel Philip Pontillas said.
It was said that the suspect was considered to be a “big time” drug syndicate in Surigao City and just recently moved here to sustain their illegal drugs operations, Pontillas added. As he spoke, “Nisibat sila sa Surigao diri na sad ilang market sa CDO (Cagayan de Oro) Kay basin nagtuo sila nga dili higpit atong Intel diri.”
About a month ago, a drug suspect identified as Rayhana Batara was also arrested by CIDG-Caraga at the Agora bus terminal and the police are investigating Batara and Argente as they could have a possible connection.
P1.8 million worth of shabu were seized by the police from Batara who is a former municipal councilor of Pantar, Lanao del Norte last August 18.
Pontillas stated, “Dili pa nato ma estbalish pero isa ka bulan na pud nato nga namonitor after atong CIDG operation uban atong station.”
The suspects will be facing charges in violating the dangerous drugs act particularly on trading which is non-bailable, Pontillas affirmed.
