05 Feb CSWD’s Single Parents Program To Help Single Parents of Cagayan de Oro

Due to the undeniable presence of single parents in the city, the social welfare and development office in coordination with the National Housing Authority (NHA 10) has conceived a program with the goal to help single parents manage and bear the challenges of raising their children.
According to Apple Tabafa, city’s social welfare and development office focal person on solo person, 553 single parents have already been listed as recipients to the program with at least 40 single parents from Barangay Carmen who were given sewing equipment and materials, a part of the alternative livelihood component of the program.
“Our office is very much open for new single parent to register to the program so the city can assist them to be productive single parents,” said Tabafa. And she added that all of the recipients of the program will be entitled with medical and educational assistance.
Republic Act 8972 which is also known as the Solo Parents’ Welfare Act of 2000 suggests that solo parents and their children must be provided with benefits and privileges such as opportunities by the city.
