In a report from Sun.Star, City Councilor George Goking said, after an inquiry with telcos in the past week, that the number of cell sites and telecom infrastructure in the city no longer meet the demands of Cagayan de Oro, thus, the slow internet connection.

As added by Goking who chairs the trade and commerce committee, it was in 2016 when a huge number of proposals, which are for the construction of cell sites, were left pending before the local government. To mention that a total of 26 permits must a telco get before the City Government finally allows the establishment of a cell site.

It was City Councilor Edna Dahino who raised the poor internet connection issue who then proposed that a resolution must be passed for the reviewing of the City Ordinance 9119-2004 and to possibly amend the said ordinance to make the process shorter.

President Rodrigo Duterte is also being called by the City Council to add more internet service providers coming from foreign internet providers.
