28 Jun Solons approve bill on the correct rendition of ‘Lupang Hinirang’
In an article from Inquirer, the House of Representatives has approved House Bill No. 5524 which seeks to update on the correct rendition of the national anthem Lupang Hinirang.
The bill also seeks to impose stiff penalties of P50,000 to P100,00o on “any person who, or entity which violates any provision” and requires every Filipino to sing along when the march is played in public.
Under the HB, the public is required to sing along and is mandatory at any public gatherings and the singing must be done with fervor.
It also seeks to standardize the proper rendition of Lupang Hinirang in accordance with the musical arrangement and composition of Julian Felipe which is in 2/4 beat when played, and within the range of 100 to 120 metronome, in 4/4 beat when sang.
The bill was approved in a landslide vote of 212 versus zero and is passed on to the senate for consideration.
