05 Jan Starex-Piston Ponders Protests Against Oil Price Hikes

The Solidarity of Transport Alliance in Northern Mindanao-Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (Starex-Piston) has expressed their intention of taking their objections to the streets. This is regarding oil price increases that are currently affecting the transport sector.
According to an article by Sunstar, Starex-Piston Sec.Gen. Ringo Lago said they are already noticing the price hikes on petroleum products by many gasoline stations.
Lago cited that, “Naa gyud mahitabo nga lihok protesta within this month or next month labi na kung mabati na ang epekto sa tax reform.”
He also said that he’s aware of the petition for fare increase by other transport groups. And stated that drivers have the right to demand an increase, especially in situations like this.
Moreover, he added that oil price hikes will also increase the price of basic commodities. Which in turn, will worsen the financial problems of all Filipino citizens.
