Stranded Foreign Tourists in Northern Mindanao Flown Out Through a Sweeper Flight

As a protective measure against the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Philippines, all domestic and international flights were suspended, which left 86 foreign tourists stranded in Northern Mindanao, unable to fly back home.

To amend this, a sweeper flight was organized by the Canadian Embassy and the Philippine Airlines (PAL), and Canadian citizens who weren’t able to fly out of Region 10 were accommodated, including other foreign citizens.
