13 Sep Sweet House Pastry School Celebrates Its 2nd Year Anniversary with Free Cooking Demos
Sweet House Pastry School, Cagayan de Oro’s premier baking and pastry school, recently celebrated its 2nd Year Anniversary last September 8, 2016, at its location on the 2nd floor of the Sweet House School at the corner of Tiano and J.R. Borja Streets. The celebration was a simple series of free cooking and baking demonstrations from selected chef instructors. Participants to the free demos were mostly raffle draw winners.
The demos began at around 1:00 p.m. and the last one ended just after 6:00 p.m. Participants were encouraged to actively participate by taking notes, pictures, and asking pertinent questions.
It is kind of unbelievable that Sweet House has only been in Cagayan de Oro for two years since its opening in 2014 as it is now recognized as the city’s premier baking and pastry school and its reach goes as far as the whole of Northern Mindanao.
Accredited only last year by TESDA, it has since churned out 6 batches of professional Pastry Chefs and 4 batches of professional Cake Decorators, some who since opened their own pastry shops and cafes in their locale. Also in its 2 years, the school has won numerous awards and medals in different baking and pastry competitions including in the annual Kumbira Food Festival. Sweet House Pastry School was founded, developed, and is still managed by multi-awarded Chef Mich Uapal, together with husband Sam Uapal.
The present roster of chef instructors is one of the best chef lineups in the city since they have been proven to be the best in their respective fields of specialization.
The ones who did the free demos are the following; Chef Mich Uapal, Chef Ruben Castor, Chef Mark Anthony Lacuesta, with Chef Jay Pee is Chef Tisha, also Chef Ann Miranda of Something Sweet and Chef Mae Roa.
Aside from the above mentioned chefs who conducted the free demos, the roster of chef instructors also include Chef Awi Chaves (Cakeistry CDO), Chef Roseller Fiel (Soy Café), Chef Dan Basilio (Global Pacific Consultant), Chef Khris Borja, Chef Rose Lim (Caro & Marie), Chef Ann Miranda (Something Sweet by Ann), Chef Tisha Proulx, Chef Anna Quisumbing, Chef Mae Roa, Chef Clyden San Pedro (Dessert Draft), and Chef Pia Tecson (Gourmet Bites – Davao).
