Mary Owen Ang, a 13-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Miguel Ang, has a brain tumor with just about a size of a tennis ball.

An operation will be made this week in Digos city, Davao del Sur, but the Ang family needs P20,000 more in their budget to meet the P80,000 quota needed for the medicine, transportation, food and other expenses before, during and after the surgery.

Dr. Wencito A. Daya, a young yet experienced neurosurgeon based at the Davao Doctor’s Hospital offered a free service for the operation. Dr. Daya has been in close contact with the Ang family since December. He has reminded the parents of Mary that they have to prepare for the amount sans the payment for him since it will be rendered for free.

Sir Miguel, the father of Mary who is working as a printing machine technician at Sun Star had successfully gathered funds from his friends totaling to P60,000 all in all.

Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro, through its Mary Owen Fund, has been helping raise funds for the immediate surgery of Mary Owen.

There are many who responded to the request including Corpus Christi High School, Roy Pepino from Surigao and two persons from outside the country and here in Cagayan de Oro City, where both of them opted not to be named.

For four years, Mary’s condition has worsened daily; the tumor caused Mary to have weakened vision and regular headaches. Her head has been deformed because of the tumor and needs support in walking.

If the operation will not be conducted immediately, Mary might end up being paralyzed and, God forbid, dead.

Any help to suffice the needed amount of money for the Operation of Mary Owen Ang will be a huge help to the Ang family where they are to receive it with full appreciation.
