Mga higala! Francis Alcantara from Cagayan de Oro and Jeson Patrombon of Iligan City have won the Philippines’ first and only TENNIS gold medal, in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games!

Alcantara and Patrombon defeated their fellow Filipinos- Treat Huey and Ruben Gonzales, in an intense men’s doubles tennis match at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Courts last Saturday, December 6.

“I’m so happy and thankful. Kudos to Treat and Ruben, they played really good too, and we know in the Finals, only one is going to win and luckily, we got the win today,” said Alcantara.

“At first, there pressure was there because we’re also facing our teammates and because it’s our first time to play in the finals during our time as partners, I’m thankful that we won and Nino and I played well, and congratulations to Ruben and Treat,” said Petrombon.
