11 Jul TKH chess team triumphs in Davao chess tourney

The King of Hearts (TKH) chess member Nazario Ubanan of Cagayan de Oro, together with his teammates, Bince Omal Medina of National University (NU), and Paul John Lauron of Manila, conquered two game categories against several other teams in the Artillery Foundation of the Philippines Incorporated (AFPI)-backed 2017 National Blitz and Rapid Chess Team Championships-Mindanao Leg at the NCCC Mall Davao.
In an article from Sunstar.com, the calculating streaks of the TKH chessers swept another strong line-up of the M. Sacar Custom Brokers (MSCB) to clench the rapid title and get hold of the P25,000-worth leaving the latter in second place in the chess competition themed “Push Pawns not Drugs” of the National Chess Foundation of the Philippines (NCFP).
TKH’s Lauron led board three with 6.0 points while Nazario ruled board two with 7.0.
The team also managed to clinch the blitz title with 12 points over the Joden Coal Team (11), MSCB (10), Justice for Seafarers (10) and Mode Chess Wizards (9.0).
On the other hand, Winrar (9.0), Unilab (9.0) and Justice for Seafarers (8.0) accumulated scores in different categories.
