16 May Triple Victory for the Pacquiao Siblings!
In the 2016 Philippine Elections, 3 Pacquiao siblings ran for different posts in the government. The boxing Icon Manny ran for the Senate, Bobby as a city Councilor in General Santos City, and Roel is on his way for his second attempt on a congressional run.
All of them won!
The Boxing Superstar turned politician, Manny Pacquiao, tried his guts into the national level and ran for Senator. He is now sitting at a comfortable 7th place behind fellow Mindanaoan Juan Miguel Zubiri.
With only less than 5% of votes are yet to be counted, Manny’s position in the senatorial race is mathematically secured.
In Sarangani, his brother Roel won a landslide victory! Even if 100,000 votes are added to his rival, it won’t surpass the votes cast for Roel who took 86.1% of the total votes placed on Election Day.
6 years ago, in the 2010 elections, Roel tried to become the next congressman of South Cotabato but he was defeated.
In 2013, he finally won but just a city councilor in General Santos City.
Last year, he transferred to Sarangani province to prepare himself for this year’s election and finally he will be able to represent Sarangani Province in the congress moving forward.
Bobby Pacquiao, who is also a former professional boxer, won as a city Councilor in lone district of General Santos City. He placed second in the race with 95,092 votes.
This year seems very friendly to the political operations of the Pacquiao siblings. How they fare in these positions is yet to be seen.
