05 Dec TRUMP INVITES DUTERTE TO VISIT WHITE HOUSE NEXT YEAR
There is hope to mend ties with the United States after US President-Elect Donald Trump invited President Rodrigo Duterte to visit the White House Next Year during a phone conversation on Friday.
According to Duterte’s aid, Christopher “Bong” Go, the call lasted for about seven minutes. The phone call was a speck of hope, after Duterte’s anti-US remarks, that may have caused strain on the long-standing alliance between the two countries.
It can be recalled that in a speech, Duterte has called US President Barrack Obama and ‘Son of Whore’ after Obama criticized Duterte’s war on drugs.
Duterte stated that the US should not impose to other countries their views on Extra Judicial Killings (EJK) and human rights since the US has some issues to solve on its own including their war on Syria and their discrimination on black Americans.
Duterte has sought independent foreign policy and has sought to China and Russia for foreign relations.
The firebrand President congratulated Trump after his win last US Elections and hopes to mend ties with the US.
Tag as the “Donal Trump of the East” Duterte and Trump may just be able to talk without being wedded with previous policy failures.
