09 Dec Trump praised PH war on drugs – Duterte feels like a ‘saint’
President Rodrigo Duterte said during their call last Saturday that US President-elect Donald Trump praised his war on drugs and that Duterte should not worry about Americans criticizing him.
“I know you worry about the Americans criticizing you. You are doing a good job,” Duterte said while mimicking Trump last Wednesday night.
Duterte added that he feels like a saint after the current US administration criticized his action and allegedly wanting him investigated by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In an Inquirer report, Duterte said he felt like a saint on Trump’s comments. He said Trump is also concerned about drugs in the country and we are doing it the right way as a sovereign nation.
Trump also extended an invitation for Duterte to have a coffee when Duterte visits in New York or Washington.
A statement from Trump’s team said that Duterte congratulated the Trump on his Presidential win and the two noted the the long history of friendship and cooperation between the two nations and have agreed to work together on matters of shared interest and concern.
