03 Aug Two suspected NPA members arrested in Quezon, Bukidnon
In an article from Sunstar.com.ph, the military apprehended a suspected bomb expert and one member of the leftist group New People’s Army (NPA) yesterday, August 2, at Brgy. Kiburiao, Quezon in Bukidnon province.
Alleged NPA bomb expert, Ruel Cololot, and NPA member, Ramil Cololot, were captured by military operatives after reports of some members of the NPA were doing unfavorable activities around the area which the residents claimed as harassments.
The entrapment operation lasted for about 5 minutes as the suspects tried to resist the military forces which resulted to a gunfight. However, other NPA members were able to escape leaving the Cololots behind.
Authorities found an identification card identification card of Anakpawis Partylist, one 57 recoilless rifles, 19 IEDs, 1 Glock Caliber 40, wires, and other IED components, detonating chords, switch boxes, 2 laptops, ammunitions, and subversive documents.
4ID commanding officer Major General Benjamin Madrigal said that the success of the entrapment operation is the product of their operational enhancements against the NPA group.
As of now, the two rebels are under the custody of the Army’s 1st Special Forces Battalion.
