Typhoon Ferdie to Bring Heavy Rains and Strong Winds as It Enters PAR

According to the state weather bureau, September 11, 2016, when Typhoon Ferdie, having the international name Meranti, entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) which is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rains across Luzon and Visayas until this Thursday.

It was later in the afternoon when Ferdie further intensified from a severe tropical storm into a typhoon.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said that the weather bureau might heighten tropical cyclone warning signals across extreme Northern Luzon on September 13, 2016, Tuesday as Ferdie moves towards the area.

As of 4:00 PM, September 11, 2016, the eye of the storm was located 1,280 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora with maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph. Ferdie was forecasted to move west-northwest at 22 kph.

Ferdie is said to enhance the southwest monsoon bringing light to moderate to occasionally heavy rains across western section of Luzon which includes Metro Manila and the western section of Visayas. That begins on Tuesday.
