24 Nov UP To Train 3 MSU-IIT Graduates As New Filipino Satellite Makers
Mga higala! The University of the Philippines (UP) Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (EEEI) will be training 8 new Filipino satellite builders (nanosatellite engineering) under their Space Science and Technology Proliferation through University Partnerships (STeP-UP) Program!
3 of these are graduates from the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) namely:
- Engr. Genesis Remocaldo – Mechanical Engineering (from Clark Air Base)
- Antenna Deployment
- Engr. Chandler Timm Doloriel – Electronics Engineering (from Surigao del Norte)
- Instrument Control Unit (ICU)
- Anna Ruth Alvarez – Electronics Engineering (from Misamis Oriental)
- Communications Subsystem
The said STeP-UP scholars above met virtually last November 6, 2020, with the pioneering STeP-UP Class of 2019, for a kick-off ceremony over Zoom. The event was attended by many prominent names in the Philippine space science and technology industry.
BTW, the STeP-UP scholarship is a part of the STAMINA4Space program and aims to build a healthy and vibrant space infrastructure in the Philippines.
Moreover, the satellites that will be made by these scholars can greatly contribute to the country’s economic, territorial, and disaster risk reduction efforts.
