27 Feb Bridge To Connect Visayas and Mindanao Undergoes Study by DPWH & JICA
According to an article by Mindanao Economic Boom, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have now started the month-long feasibility study on the Leyte-Surigao bridge project together with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
This is also said to cover another project that will link Leyte and Bohol in the Visayas. DPWH Southern Leyte District Engineer Ma. Maragarita C Junia recently revealed that the JICA team arrived in Southern Leyte on February 12, 2018, to begin their research for the said bridges.
“We are going to work closely with JICA in the conduct of an ocular inspection in Guadalupe Village, Maasin City, and Benit Village, San Ricardo town. Benit Village has an existing port that serves as the region’s exit point to Mindanao while Guadalupe Village is the nearest point in Southern Leyte to Bohol Island,” said Junia.
