19 Oct Water Supply Insufficiency Continues in CdeO Due to Stalled Pipe Repair Works
Restoration of normal water supply in Cagayan de Oro City and other neighboring areas could be extended as heavy rains are stalling the repair operations of Rio Verde Water Consortium Inc. (RVWCI) on all of its damaged water pipes.
In an article from Sunstar Cagayan de Oro, RVCWI Senior Vice President for Operations, Engr. Joffrey Hapitan, said that rampaging waters resulting from heavy rains halted repair works to fix the underwater pipe which crosses Cagayan de Oro River.
Hapitan also clarified that the current 40,000 cubic meters of water produced by the company every day is being delivered to many houses in the city through an alternate system run by 650 Kilowatt Booster Camp with a discharge pressure of 185 psi.
He also encouraged the COWD to have their booster pump be operational so that it can help in delivering water to other areas of concern.
Meanwhile, COWD Assistant General Manager Engr. Bienvenido Batar Jr. said that even though RVCWI is supplying thousands of cubic meters of water, the water pressure at the delivery point is still zero and is insufficient in carrying water to some parts of the city particularly to the Western part.
Batar guaranteed that normal water supply will be back after one week when repair works are finished.
It can be remembered that RVCWI released a previous statement that it will complete their repairs on October 15 and was changed to October 16. Until now, repairs are still ongoing.
